New to Las Vegas in 2023

January 6, 2023

From new ventures into the world of sports, to new bars, and festivals, Vegas is constantly changing and expanding its entertainment sources. Of course, 2023 will be a big and exciting new year for Vegas as construction on a variety of projects will be completed and the city is here to rejoice in the celebration of new opportunities it’ll bring to our community.

Around this time last year, Vegas was gearing up to open doors to new hotels such as Circa and Resorts World, and now they are getting ready to unveil the curtain on new bars, residencies, and of course sporting events. Keep reading to find out what will be coming to Vegas this year in 2023.

Formula 1 Races

The most anticipated arrival to Vegas is one of the hottest sports in the world, Formula 1 racing. In November 2023, The Las Vegas Grand Prix will have a nighttime race in the FIA Formula One World Championship. A four-mile-long track is being constructed that will take the race down the Strip and through nearby streets. The construction of these tracks is important since they need to be able to handle speeds of more than 212 miles per hour.

Formula 1 is going to bring a lot of new business to Las Vegas, in fact, the old Ice nightclub on Koval is being torn down to construct a brand new facility for Formula 1 races. It has been more than 40 years since Formula 1 racing has been in Las Vegas and both the city and Formula 1 fans alike are excited to be able to celebrate in one of the entertainment capitals of the world.

MSG Sphere

The MSG Sphere started construction in 2018 and now has its sights set on completing construction later this year. Located east of the Strip adjacent to the Venetian, this massive entertainment venue is expected to be one of the largest visual entertainment venues in the world.

Standing 360 feet tall and 500 feet wide, the MSG Sphere is expected to be able to seat 17,000 guests or 20,000 standing guests. Guests will be surrounded by the highest resolution LED screens on earth with crystal clear acoustics no matter your location in the venue. Different events are expected to be held within the Sphere upon opening, from residency concerts to award shows, the MSG Sphere will be providing a wide range of entertainment to those who visit.
Electric Pickle

One of the newest and most popular growing sports is Pickleball, and of course, Vegas is here to provide fans of Pickleball with the best of the best spots to visit. Located within Southwest Las Vegas, The Bend is a new and exciting retail and dining complex that is set to open in late 2023. They will have Electric Pickle within the complex that will cover three acres and have nine different pickleball courts.

There will also be a two-story restaurant complete with a rooftop bar and a lawn for live music and areas where guests can enjoy cornhole and bocce ball. Vegas slowly has been becoming a popular spot for Pickleball tournaments, but once Electric Pickle is complete, there will be even more chances for bigger Pickleball events to take place within Sin City.

Awakening at the Wynn

The Wynn Encore is opening the curtain to a new production at the Encore Theater. With elements of Cirque Du Soleil and specialized puppetry and visual effects, Awakening is sure to become a must-see show in Las Vegas.

Awakening will be replacing the Le Reve production that closed operation during the pandemic. Performances for Awakening will run from 7 pm and 9:30 pm on Tuesday through Saturday and tickets are currently available now as production has already begun.

Durango By Station Casinos

The Southwest of Las Vegas will finally be able to welcome its own stand-alone casino. Station Casino broke ground in 2022 on a brand new casino and resort called Durango which will be located west of Durango Drive and the 215 beltway. The 83,178 square-foot casino will be home to four food and beverage outlets as well as a food hall with quick eats from local restaurants.

With 211 hotel rooms, Durango is expected to potentially add a second hotel tower in the future to allow for more room for banquet space, a theater, and a gaming room. Durango is set to open in late 2023 and is wrapping up construction as quickly as possible. The addition of Durango is exciting to the locals in the Southwest of Las Vegas since the nearest casino or hotels are Red Rock Resort or Rampart Casino.

With so many new and exciting sights to see and experience, 2023 is going to be a busy year for Las Vegas and the city will continue to grow beyond our wildest dreams in the near future. Vegas is working hard to constantly evolve into a city that provides endless entertainment for everyone and we look forward to the excitement 2023 has to offer the city of Las Vegas.
